Learn to wingfoil at Covenham

With almost one square kilometre of flat water and excellent facilities, Covenham reservoir is an ideal place to learn this exciting watersport.

We now offer wingfoil instructing at Covenham Sailing Club, using the latest beginner-friendly equipment from Starboard, and with an RYA-qualified instructor. Instruction starts from basic wing handling and continues to sustained foiling flights and beyond.

Training will initially be 1:2 and our goal is to pair people who have similar experience. Sessions will be on either Wednesday or Thursday evenings, Saturdays, or Sundays.

Typically, you'll need a 'wingsurfing' session on a non-foiling board (to get used to handling the wing) before progressing to a foiling session.

If you would like to start or progress your wingfoil journey at Covenham, please get in touch, telling us your watersports experience on a scale of 1 to 3:

  1. Complete beginner

  2. Some relevant experience, e.g., paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing (please specify)

  3. Beginner wingfoiler wanting to progress

Because wingsurfing and wingfoiling need at least 10-12 knots of wind to make the sessions worthwhile, it's not practical to publish a training schedule. Instead, we run a waiting list that works on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. We’ll text and email you when we have a session available with the right weather conditions.

Cost is £85 per person for 2-3 hours* (£45pp for CSC members**) and includes equipment, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet hire.
